What is the process involved in installing water and sewer mains?
A trench is dug from the house to the street for the sewer and water. Then, the appropriate pipe is laid for water, and the appropriate pipe is laid for sewer, and they are connected to the main in the street.
Sewer & water mains must be available to your property and the services available in the street to do this type of hookup.
If this service is available in an area that already has it, the homeowner must connect to the main. If sewer & water mains are being run down your road, the city will generally give you a time period to connect.
