In just one week we fixed a drastic septic issue in an old home in Bethel, CT.
The first step involved scheduling and performing soil testing with the Bethel Health Department.
The soil test is a required test that determines the percolation rate of the soil accompanied by a deep test. The deep test is performed, to find the most suitable soil of proper depth, to support the location for the future leaching fields.
In this case, the soil conditions proved to be poor and the town sanitarian requested that a Civil Engineer design the new septic replacement. The designed and approved plan would include 80 lf of Mantis leaching fields and a brand new 1250 gallon septic tank.
We cut down trees and brush as needed, and due to the poor soil conditions, the existing topsoil was stripped off and 25″ of septic sand was delivered to install the new leaching field.
We delivered and spread the septic fill in the proposed areas and installed the Mantis units.
Because the new septic system was installed in a new location, rather than where the existing system was located, we were able to install the new septic tank with very little interruption for the household.
We covered the new system with the existing topsoil, that had been stockpiled. Because it was replaced in January, we covered it with hay and returned in the Spring to rake, seed and hay again.
New septic repairs when pumped every two years will last the average home 25-30 years.
However, buyer beware: abuse of water or pouring anything down the drain that is greasy (or the like), can cause a failure within a year!
We admit, no one really wants to put in a septic system, they are an unwelcome but necessary part of life. If the time has arrived for your home to get a septic tank installed or repaired, give us a call today!
