This was a complete transformation of 4 major projects within one large renovation in Milford, CT.
What was done for this phase of the project? Drainage! The drainage issues that had to be addressed were:
-
-
- Runoff from the gutters of the house was dumping on the ground
- This water had to be collected and piped away
- Improper grading in front of 2-car garage forcing water into garage had to be corrected
- We had to plan for the water that would come off of the 2 hard surfaces (Patio & Driveway Turn-Around) that would be installed, that would slope down and away from the house
- This water would have to be collected into the new drainage and lead away from those surfaces & house
- All the water had to be pitched and funneled thru a 5′ opening, between the garage and the proposed planter screen/patio
-
This is the completed drainage portion of the project, next to the installed Techo Bloc paver patio, Climbing Rose/Patio Privacy Screen and the completed paver driveway.
Here are the strip drains, we installed 4 heavy duty commercial grade, concrete with cast iron grates.
This is area that was being prepped for the planter box that would run parallel to the patio, which had to be installed before the strip drains that would run parallel to the completed planter box, were installed.
We stripped away 3 layers of asphalt and soil to prep for the strip drains that would be installed in front of the garage, as well as prep for the pollinator garden that would run alongside the future paver parking area.
Placing the strip drains with our mini-excavator alongside the future planter area.
Underground pipe gets laid to connect the two sets of strip drains that ran in front of the garage and alongside the planter/patio.
Strip drains are connected and ready for backfilling.
Strip drains, set in place, showing the view which includes the completed patio & planter box with the climbing Rosa Dawn & ground cover, Ceratostigma.
With the strip drains installed, pavers are laid 0ut in the parking area.
Techo Bloc Patio, Hydrangea ‘Quick Fire’ bed is then planted, planter for Rosa Dawn climbing roses, strip drains and paver parking area all complete!
