This June the AJM Team broke ground on another brand new site! The land was purchased with plans on building a brand new home. Once the plans were approved and the site cleared, the real work began.
A new site is always fun to work on because you can watch as the new home comes into existence from the bottom up.
The first few days of the project were spent making roads and work areas, moving boulders, and creating some terracing, so the property would be more level, and thus more usable for the builders, contractors, and the homeowner in the future.
Terracing is a great way to increase the usability of your property, and the “Big Excavator” made short work of it on this site in New Canaan. Moving the large boulders and stones that were already on the property, the team stacked them into a large wall, and then filled behind the wall to create a level terrace. This steep slope now became a level area, which allowed the builders to put in brand new septic fields, and create more flat yard, which will be sure to make the future homeowner very happy!
Once the terracing was complete, and there was room available to stockpile materials, the foundation excavation began. This was a very large excavation, as the builders were putting in a large 5 bedroom home with a garage attached.
Once the excavation was completed our team left the site to allow the foundation to be poured, and the building could begin!
